June 2026 Summits to Convene Policymakers on Ethical AI and Local Economies
We are very pleased to be supporting two significant policy summits in June 2026, convening government partners, researchers and civic leaders to shape emerging debates across ethical AI and local economic transformation.
Cloud and Ethical AI Summit – 2nd June 2026
On 2nd June 2026, MetroPolis and Manchester Met’s Department of Computing and Mathematics will co-host a new summit bringing together DSIT civil servants and Manchester Met researchers to explore how cloud architecture, governance and infrastructure can be used as practical levers for more ethical and trustworthy AI in public services.
The summit will focus on how cloud decisions influence fairness, accountability and access to compute. Sessions will cover sustainable AI at cloud scale, privacy and security by design, and the development of integrated, AI-ready public sector infrastructure. A core output will be a set of emerging policy and design principles for “cloud for ethical AI in government”.
Community Wealth Building Summit 2026 – 15th June 2026
Following the success of the sold-out Community Wealth Building Summit 2025, which brought together local economic changemakers, place leaders, grassroots innovators and policymakers to explore how community wealth building and changes in local democracy can strengthen local economies, MetroPolis has been invited to host the 2026 national summit.
Last year’s event firmly established the Summit as one of the UK’s leading forums for those committed to building fairer and more resilient local economies, attracting strong national interest from policymakers, local authorities and community organisations.
The 2026 Summit, taking place on 15th June 2026, will continue this mission, with keynote speakers to be confirmed. Delegates will explore themes including wellbeing-led local governance, people-powered policymaking and practical approaches to community wealth building that enable places to shape their own economic futures.
