Announcing New Policy Coaching Opportunities with Showrunner Communications

MetroPolis has extended its collaboration with Showrunner Communications to offer additional one-to-one coaching sessions in 2025. Showrunner Communications, a team of expert policy engagement professionals, provides tailored support to help researchers navigate the complexities of policy impact.

These policy coaching sessions are designed to support researchers in engaging effectively with policy professionals. Showrunner Communications brings extensive experience from the private, non-profit, and higher education sectors, equipping researchers with the tools to maximise the real-world influence of their work. The coaching service offers guidance on various policy-related matters, including:

  • Advice on policy aspects of external funding proposals
  • Support for developing impact case studies with policy dimensions
  • Strategic planning for engaging policymakers through events and initiatives

This service is available not only to experienced researchers but also to doctoral students, ensuring that research students can build the skills and confidence needed to engage with policy from the early stages of their academic careers.

Coaching sessions are conducted in one-hour blocks, with Showrunner striving to arrange appointments as promptly as possible. In addition to coaching, Showrunner may also assist in developing bespoke policy toolkits, offering researchers structured approaches to policy engagement. However, as these toolkits require time to create, they will be provided on a case-by-case basis.

“I have had two submissions (to a Parliamentary Inquiry) accepted and published today… Without Showrunner, I wouldn’t have known about this and wouldn’t have been able to submit our research evidence to improve the protection and responses for women and girls experiencing violence.”
