Generating policy impact (GENIMP) Session 2

**This programme is open to staff and post-grads at Manchester Metropolitan University only. Sessions for external individuals and ECRs will be held in the future.**

This short course consists of 2 four hour sessions that are designed to help academics undertaking policy-relevant research to develop a clear strategy for generating policy impact. A working knowledge of UK policy-making and evidence-based policy is assumed. The sessions are as follows:

Session 2: Getting evidence into policy and practice.

In this session we first look at what existing research tells us about the effectiveness of different approaches to getting evidence into policy and practice. In the second half of the session participants draw on the learning from the short course to develop their own plan for generating policy impact.

The course has been designed by and is delivered by Chris Fox, Steve Morris and Chris O’Leary.

  • Chris Fox is Professor of Evaluation and Policy Analysis at Manchester Metropolitan University and Director of the Policy Evaluation and Research Unit. He is co-lead of Metropolis. He is co-author of An Introduction to Evaluation, published by Sage.
  • Steve Morris is Professor of Evaluation at Manchester Metropolitan University. Prior to entering academia he held senior posts in several government departments and was one of the authors of the first edition of the Magenta Book
